1. A Showa era ryokan but one that has seen some renovations, especially in the room. The place is well set up to handle foreigners and the staff are wonderful. There's a shuttle bus from the station, but even if you can't take it, the taxi is only 1000 yen. 2. The room itself was spacious and comfortable with western style beds. There's a toilet, shower, and bathtub. Sadly I have no view of the lake from my room. 3. There are several onsens and they gender swap in the mornings. There's 2 on the 8th floor, 1 on the 5th floor, and one on the 11th floor. The 11th and 5th floor gender swap. The 11th floor one has beautiful and breathtaking views of the surrounding area and its only an open air onsen. There are 2 pools, one small one and one about 2-3x the size. The 8th floor one had a decent size indoor pool and a small open air one. Towels are provided in the dressing rooms. 4. Dinner was very enjoyable and had several good flavors. It came with quite a bit of meat with grilled beef, grilled duck, and shabu shabu meat. Sashimi and other seafood items were present as well. I really enjoyed a chocolate mochi dessert item they had. The staff are wonderful. 5. Breakfast buffet was a bit small, but still plentiful. They had an omelette station and were making fresh tempura. There were a lot of juices and fruits available as well as many staples of Japanese breakfast. 6. I did the other onsens this morning. 8th floor had some nice views of the lake, especially from the upper open air bath. The indoor one was nice too though slightly smaller than the other one from yesterday. The 5th floor open air was fairly large and quite pretty with its rock formation for the bath and surrounded by flowers and plants. It was a comfortable onsen, though I prefer the gorgeous lake views of the 11th floor one. All in all, a good set of onsens. Anyone staying here will have access to 4 different onsen areas.

It was a wonderful stay. We had booked a half board (about an 8 course private dinner) and private, semi-open air onsen in our room. The onsen was wonderful and we were able to see outside as we took our hot spring bath. The rooms were wonderful and the staff was amazing. The dinner we had there was delicious and I could not even finish my meal but the experience was great, and I would do it again. There is a shuttle that takes you back and fourth from the hotel to the train station but please do check with the staff on time. When we made it to the station it was a bit late, so we took a taxi to the hotel.

I'm very happy with our decision of choosing this hotel for our stay near Kyoto. It's only about 20 minutes away from the city and you can see lake Biwa from the room and the attached outdoor-bath! The staff was incredible, super friendly and quite proficient in english. In the basement there is a small arcade, and there was a (free) bingo event in the lobby, both of which where a lot of fun! The food was delicious and the room was one of the biggest I've seen in Japan. All in all it was an amazing experience and we will definetly visit there again if we get the chance!

The room was spacious and clean. Free snacks and tea were included, and amenities were readily available. Dinner was excellent, and breakfast was good, too. I tried 3 out of 4 of the public baths (none of the reservable private ones, though) and found them all to be very nice. I liked the indoor one on the 8th floor (which had an open air as well) the most, though the open air bath on the 11th floor was great , too. Staff were very friendly and warm, too. It was easy to access from Ogoto onsen station because there's a phone that allows you to call the shuttle bus.

It was our honeymoon and it was sweet the accommodation offered us wine to celebrate at dinner. The dinner was phenomenal and we were so full after. The facilities were good and it was fun to play some pool and table tennis too. Hostess at dinner was pleasant and was timely in bringing each course, multi course dinner was delicious and was a wonderful experience. Great facilities with different onsen to relax in and each was a different experience
